Tomasz ‘Tom’ Kulbowski. Born in 1975 in Lublin, Poland, lived and worked in London for five years and than in Sydney, currently based in Lublin, Poland. Graduated Culture and Psychology studies (MA) at UMCS in Lublin, Poland in 2001. Working commercially mostly on corporate and event photography, personally interested in travel, documentary and street photography. Working closely with several large institutions including Polish Embassy in London and Polish Professionals Association. Official Getty Images contributor. Published in several online and print magazines world wide. Winner of few awards, shortlisted for few other. Currently finalising two long-term photography projects and working on an exhibition.
CREATIVE STATEMENT
I consider myself a documentary photographer using street photography technique to explore, memorize and explain the reality I encounter. My main subject are people in the city with their everyday rituals, with a special focus on individuality in the crowd and anonymity in big cities. I’m interested in raw, unstaged and unposed presentation of reality through photography.
